Riverside, Rouge, Palmer-Pick Your Park

Tonight is the night to show your support for Detroit's many public parks that are in danger of being closed due to budget constraints. Maybe the threat of closure is just political grandstanding, maybe it's not. Either way, visiting Riverside, Rouge, or Palmer Park tonight at 5:00 would be an easy way to tell our city's government that our parks are a vital part of safe, livable neighborhoods. So bring your dog, your frisbee, your picnic basket, your barbecue, your lawn chairs, your girl (or guy), your tennis racket, your swimsuit, your bicycle, or whatever else floats your boat, and hang out for while.

I'll be at Riverside Park, watching the Detroit Futbol League's Huubbard Farms and Mexicantown teams do battle. The game and event are at the park extension at the foot of 23rd and Jefferson, not the main park on the River....if you haven't been before, turn off Fort at 23rd. Who needs their soccer fix now that the US is out of the World Cup? MORE INFO HERE.

If you haven't seen Riverside Park, I wrote about it here.
Fort Wayne, which is a historic treasure on a national scale, is also threatened with closure. Take a look at Fort Wayne here.
