Belle Isle's Trail to the Odoodem

Access Arts had two shows on Belle Isle last year, with installations scattered throughout the island. I saw most of the installations at the time of the exhibitions, but walking through the woods I stumbled upon this one, from the October show. It was made by Jan Janiczek and Mike Lyons Williams. "Odoodem" is the Ojibwe word that "totem" comes from.

The cross country skier, whom I discovered by chance may be this guy, added to winter's design changes with his patterns.

Time and weather have had their way with the totem. The Access Arts site has beautiful fall pictures of the original work.
