Clark Park Mosaics

Today I walked the dogs in Clark Park. I enjoy walking in neighborhoods that I like to imagine living in. I forgot that Cafe Con Leche is closed on Sunday, so I couldn't have a coffee there afterwards, but it was still a balmy day for November.

I've seen Clark Park come up in few things I've read lately (the restored baseball field, Cranbrook will play hockey against Catholic Central on January 17th at the outdoor rink, and a public arts project).

I noticed driving by last weekend that mosaic work was in progress on the new bandshell backdrop. I thought the dogs and I would check it out. Alas, the new mosaic works were under plastic (they must be setting or curing or drying).

Fortunately, there were other things to see, including mosaics that are part of a small sculpture garden, a collaboration between several artist-teachers and students from neighboring schools.

I grew up skating on outdoor rinks (lakes, even), so I was happy to see that the ice rink looks to be in great shape, although no ice yet. It is one of the few places around anymore where you can skate outside.

There were even several tennis matches going on.
